Two rooms on the ground floor, both open to the street. Neither takes itself seriously enough to require anything of you.

Marble tables, a long banquette down one wall and a kitchen that sends out a short menu twice a day. Breakfast is served to anyone who walks in, not only to the house.
The room was the building's first dining hall and has been in continuous use since, which is less a boast than an explanation for the state of the floor.

A carved back-bar, a brass rail worn pale in the places people lean, and eight stools. Drinks are made the way they were asked for, without ceremony.
It fills after the theatres let out and empties in the order people have to be up.

The dining hall was written into the first leases. Residents were expected downstairs, and for thirty years most of them came.
