STUDIO UMBER

A sunlit living room corner in a collected New York interior: a blush velvet sofa under a large framed seaside painting, coral dahlias in a glass vase on a burl side table, a patterned armchair and a layered vintage rug.

We make rooms that look collected rather than decorated — gathered over time, held together by color, proportion and a little friction.

The studio works on houses, apartments and small hotels, usually from the plan stage, and usually for a long time. We draw the joinery, choose the stone, find the chairs and hang the pictures, because a room only reads as one thing when the same hands see it through.

Nothing here arrives all at once. A commission is finished when it can absorb what the people living in it bring home next year.

THE STUDIO

Residences, hotels and the rooms between them.

The studio was founded to work the way its people already worked — in the room, with the samples on the floor, staying until the pictures are hung. We take a small number of commissions at a time and see each one through from the first plan to the last delivery.

KIN — OBJECTS BY THE STUDIO

Pieces we drew for one room and kept making.

KIN objects are made in small batches with the workshops we use on commissions. They are not stocked and not sold online — write to the studio and we will tell you what is possible.
